The St. Andrew’s Family Partnership Agreement
At St. Andrew’s we believe that education is a partnership between parents, school and children. We all contribute to the upbringing of the children in our care and by choosing St. Andrew’s parents can be sure that the school will aim to provide the following:
- Clear, concise information regarding the school, its staff and the curriculum
- A range of communications to keep parents informed of progress or difficulties
- Opportunities to meet with Governors, Head or Teaching staff on open evenings or by appointment
- Invitations to assemblies, concerts or curriculum workshops
- Opportunities to help and work with the children of the school at first hand on areas of the curriculum such as ICT, cooking, library skills, reading, etc
- A clear discipline policy with sanctions and rewards across the whole school. Parents will be kept informed through certificates, letters and the Learning Journal
- Provision of before and after school care for children with working parents and the provision of after school activities to enhance education.
Our promise to all parents is that we will keep you informed regarding all matters of concern to your child.
To cement the Home/School link we ask that all parents ensure:
- That children know the school has your active support and concern for high standards
- That your children know that you chose St. Andrew’s for them because you think it is a good school
- That you support the school in all matters of learning and discipline
To make the partnership more effective between us we ask that:
- You ensure that your child is sent to school regularly and is only absent when unwell or for any unavoidable cause. Reasons for absence or lateness are required by law for your child's attendance.
- You ensure that your child arrives at school each day by 8.45 a.m., having had a good nights sleep and dressed in the school uniform.
- You support your child with learning at home.
- You sign your child’s Learning Journal on a weekly basis to say that you have seen any comments written by the teacher.
- You attend parent / teacher appointments to discuss progress and contact school in the event of any concerns about your child's well being or education.
- You carefully monitor your child's experiences in relationships with the outside world in matters concerning the viewing of television, DVDs and gaming activities and their approach to violence.
