Competitive sport at St. Andrew’s
Children are given the opportunity to compete against others in various sporting activities such as; netball, football, athletics and cross country. They are also encouraged to focus on improving their own performance in areas of sport and games.
From the academic year 2013/14, the Government is providing additional funding for primary school sports. Here at St. Andrew’s we will receive approximately £ 8000. (We are still awaiting final confirmation)
After careful consideration and a through evaluation of our current provision we have decided that some of our funding will be spent on professional development opportunities to ensure our teaching of PE is the best that it can be. We are beginning this with a focus on gymnastics in the autumn term. We also intend to purchase additional equipment to support the work we do in this area. The remainder of our funding will be used to facilitate our action plan in this area which will be completed after further monitoring and evaluation.
