Learning

Our Curriculum

We offer a broad, balanced and well sequenced curriculum which builds knowledge and skills for all of our learners to enable them to make good progress and be equipped with the skills and knowledge to succeed.

We have designed the curriculum with our pupils in mind; we have explored factors that influence their lives and personalised our work to make the most of our location and promote learning though deliberate choices of who and what to study. This has been joint work within our Small Schools Cluster, our Trust and through continuous Professional Development for our teachers. We identify relevant research to support the next steps in curriculum development.

Curriculum Organisation

  • Maths and English are taught daily
  • Our Themes are blocked units of work that have either a Science, History or Geography focus
  • RE, PSHE and PE are taught weekly
  • Creative and Technology Weeks are blocked units of work that build our Art, Music, Design Technology and Computing curriculum

Our Curriculum is organised into a two-year cycle as we teach mixed-age classes:

Acorn - Pre-School and Reception

Willow - Years 1 and 2

Ash - Years 3 and 4

Oak - Years 5 and 6
